Code Enforcement Board

The Code Enforcement Board is comprised of seven residents appointed by the Village Council and serve a three-year term. The Board members serve as judges with respect to property owners who are in violation of the Village’s Code of Ordinances and who have been issued “Notices of Violation”.

The duties of the Board are two-fold: the first is to verify through hearing testimony that the violation exists and to offer a time gram to allow the homeowner to bring the property into compliance; and the second part is to apply a daily penalty if the property has not been brought into compliance. Once a penalty fine has been assessed and is accruing, only the Code Enforcement Board has the authority to negotiate the fine only after the violation has been cured.
