Historic Preservation Board

Recommends and nominates sites or properties for historic designation, advises property owners on historic preservation matters and acts upon applications to renovate/rehabilitate structures listed on the historic register.
The Board consists of five members appointed by the Village Council to a two year term.
There are currently over forty Miami Shores Village homes designated by the Village Council. In order to qualify for designation, the Board will consider whether the home or site is of historical significance by reviewing its integrity of location, design, setting, workmanship and association with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history; that are associated with persons significant in history; that embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period or method of construction; or that represent the work of a master or possesses high artistic value.
