Zoning Code

Zoning of land is the tool used by the jurisdictions to regulate the use of property for the purposes of protecting public health, safety, and general welfare of the community. The purposes of Zoning are to regulate land use, prevent land use conflict, and allow growth to occur in a rational manner.
Miami Shores Village established and adopted its first Zoning Code pursuant to Ordinance No. 270 passed and adopted on May 17, 1956 according to Chapter 163 of Florida Statutes, since then, the Zoning Code has been amended. The original ordinance and its amendments are relative to land development regulations, for the protection and promotion of the safety, health, comfort, morals, convenience, peace, prosperity, appearance and general welfare of the village and its inhabitants.
