Bayfront Park Sea Wall

Chen-Moore and Associates have been engaged to provide a range of services, including civil engineering, geotechnical investigation, coastal/environmental engineering, and public involvement services. The design is 60% complete.

Brockway Memorial Library new Wing

The installation of new impact windows in the youth wing necessitates modifications to the existing drawings to incorporate these changes. A slight delay is expected to accommodate these revisions.

Doctor’s Charter School New Marquee Sign

An advanced modular system featuring an ultra-bright LED message board is scheduled for replacement. The Village has received proposals and is currently in negotiations.

FM# 440843 Multimodal Improvements (Construction and CEI)

High emphasis intersections including stamped asphalt design on North Miami Avenue at the four locations where neighborhood greenways cross. NE 2nd Avenue, NW/NE 93rd Street, NW/NE 96th Street, NW/NE 101st Street, NW/NE 109th Street. This project is partially funded by the Florida Department of Transportation. (Local Agency Program)

FM# 446054 NE 6th Avenue (SR 915) Pedestrian Promenade

Between NE 96th Street and NE 107th Street lies the scope of this project. Its aim is to transform the existing sidewalk into a wide multi-purpose path facility, thereby enhancing safety and mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists along the corridor. Partial funding for this initiative comes from the Florida Department of Transportation (Local Agency Program). The project is currently in the design phase, managed by Kimley Horn, with drawings at 60% completion.

FM# 447983 Sidewalk Curb Ramp Improvements (Construction)

ADA Ramp Improvement Project: Installing 36 new curb ramps to enhance pedestrian connectivity across the Village. This project is funded through a 50/50 matching grant from the Florida Department of Transportation's Local Agency Program.  Contract awarded to Homestead Concrete and Drainage.

FM#447970 Flagler Trail Greenway (Design)

This project consists of the design, permitting, and construction of an eight to ten-foot asphalt purpose path along the west side of  Club Drive between NE 91st Street and NE 100th Street. Chen-Moore and Associates have been enlisted to deliver a variety of services, encompassing civil engineering, geotechnical investigation, and public involvement services.

Garbage Truck

The replacement of one of our garbage trucks is part of our fleet upgrade initiative. This garbage truck has been ordered.

NE 96th Street Roadway Improvements

This project encompasses the area from NE 6th Avenue to NE 10th Avenue. Our tasks will include milling, resurfacing, and replacing curbs and gutters. We appreciate Miami-Dade County's partial funding support for this initiative and are collaborating with the contractor to ensure project completion.

NE 104th Street Roadway Improvements

The Drainage and Roadway Improvements Project spans from 12th Avenue to approximately NE 16th Avenue. It is financed through a 50/50 matching grant from the Florida Department of Transportation. WSP Engineering has been awarded the design contract for this project. The project is in design.

NE 104th Street Stormwater Improvements

The drainage and roadway improvements consist of an underground drainage system to flow the water to the outfalls. The project was awarded to WSP Engineering. The project is in design.

NW 95th Street Buffer Wall

Garp Construction has been awarded the Design/Build project to replace approximately 1,150 linear feet of the current wall along NW 95th Street, extending south to NW 3rd Avenue. We are currently awaiting material approvals for the wall design. All necessary documents have been signed and executed.

Septic to Sewer Study (A&E List) Design

We are presently seeking professional services from a qualified firm specializing in Septic to Sewer Master Planning. The project has been advertised since September 27, 2023.

Shores Estates Septic to Sewer

Design Drawings are 100% complete. Implementation from septic to gravity sewer conversion in the project area.

Shores Estates Stormwater Pump Station

Design drawings are 80% complete. The project area consists of 99 homes that are bounded by NE 107th Street to the North, Biscayne Canal C-8 to the south, US 1 to the east. Project consists of roadway swale areas, retention areas, and limited Stormwater infrastructure to collect Stormwater runoff from the right of way along the edge of the roadways.

Sidewalk Repairs Throughout Village

Existing damaged sidewalks caused by trees located in Right-of-Way’s are being replaced. This project is on-going.

Sidewalk Replacement throughout the Village

We are currently replacing sidewalks across the Village where tree roots have caused portions to lift. So far, we have replaced approximately 3,000 linear feet of sidewalks. This project is on-going.

Speed Humps

Speed humps are being replaced as per the Miami Shores Village-Wide Traffic Calming Study. On-going project.

Speed Tables

We are incorporating speed tables in accordance with the 2016 Miami Shores Village-Wide Traffic Calming Study. This endeavor is designed to alleviate the impact of fast-moving vehicles within our neighborhoods.

Stormwater Drainage Study (A&E List) Design

We are currently in the process of drafting a comprehensive Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to actively solicit the professional services of a highly qualified firm with a proven track record and expertise in Stormwater Master Planning. This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of excellence in addressing Stormwater management challenges within our community.

Village Hall Interior Building Renovation

Interior office renovations to include outdated restroom renovation.

Basketball Court Resurfacing

We are embarking on the resurfacing of the Community Center's basketball court.

FDOT Beautification Grant

Our 2023-2024 Highway Beautification Grant Application has cleared the initial evaluation stage and is progressing to further assessment. This marks a significant moment as we strive to enhance the allure and attractiveness of our Biscayne Blvd. entrance, creating an even more inviting and visually appealing community for all to appreciate. Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) have been sent to the top three landscaping firms.

Generators

We will soon be seeking bids for the installation of new generators at the Community Center, Library, and Aquatic Center. Additionally, we are upgrading the generator systems at the Police Department and Village Hall to operate on propane for improved performance and efficiency.

Parks Master Plan

Our Parks Master Plan maps out the future of our community's green spaces. It envisions improved parks that cater to diverse needs, emphasizing nature preservation and community involvement. We aim to create vibrant, inclusive, and eco-friendly parks for everyone to enjoy, ensuring a better future for all.

Public Works Fuel Tanks Replacement

Currently awaiting a design proposal from Kimley-Horn. The Scope of Work entails offering professional engineering services for the design and construction of replacement aboveground fuel tanks. This comprehensive scope includes overseeing construction, project management, and addressing any cleanup or unforeseen circumstances, guaranteeing a seamless and successful project.

Septic to Sewer Master Plan

The Village desires to develop a 20-year (2023-2043) septic-to-sewer master planning to determine the most efficient and cost-effective manner to identify septic-to-sewer improvements and the strategies needed to serve the businesses and residents of the Village over the planning period.  This project was awarded to Kimley-Horn.

Village Hall Flat Roof Replacement

As a future project, we have plans to replace the flat roof at Village Hall.

Aquatic Center Floor Replacement

The new floor has significantly improved the aesthetics of the building. The previous floor had deteriorated due to water damage. The newly installed floor is both water-resistant and features an anti-slip surface.

Replacement of a grapple truck within our fleet plays a crucial role in managing and collecting trash efficiently.

The addition to our fleet of a Vactor truck plays a pivotal role in storm drain cleaning and pressure washing to ensure our drains are clean and in optimal working condition.

Police Department Windows Replacement

We have upgraded the windows to new impact windows, and the funding for this project was provided through the Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program.

Roof Replacement Ed Abdella Field House
Three Pick-up Trucks

We have introduced three new pickup trucks, breathing new life into our vehicle fleet to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Two Trailer Mounted Dewatering Pumps

In preparation for king tides and potential flooding, we're making additions to our fleet, including a trailer-mounted dewatering pump, to better serve our residents and mitigate the impact of high-water levels.
