JOB SUMMARY
This part-time position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of passengers in and around a designated area, using a vehicle that requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Work is performed within the established guidelines and procedures with regard to the safety of the passengers and the general public. The employee’s work is reviewed by a superior through the observation of the activities, though the employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performing pre-trip inspections of the equipment to ensure cleanliness and proper working order
- Performing operator level maintenance on vehicles to include maintaining log books and forms
- Taking vehicle to the city’s Motor Pool for repairs and/or maintenance
- Enforcing passenger safety rules to ensure safety while vehicle is in operation
- Adhering to safety rules and regulations of local, state and federal agencies
- Taking passengers to and from designated location safely
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
High school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months experience operating school buses or vehicles designed to transport 16 or more passengers. A valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (Class B or higher) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements is required and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience.
NOTE:
Candidates will be subject to a Drug screening and Level II background screening.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of Village policies and procedures;
- Acts as a representative of the Village to the public;
- Knowledgeable of traffic laws and regulations;
- Proficient in operating buss transporting children;
- Knowledge and ability to carry out assigned route on time;
- Accurately follow oral and written instructions; and
- Ability to effectively communicate with others.
SALARY: $18.00/hour
